Itinerary:

Valkyr Outpost Lodge – January 29 – February 5 2023 (12 participants) $1780 deposit $710: Outpost Lodge is located in the Valhalla Range. Valkyr adventures recently upgraded this lodge, increasing its capacity, adding a micro hydro system and putting in a water pump - no more hauling buckets! They even added an indoor bathroom with on demand hot water for the shower! The lodge is located a tree line at 2200m and offers alpine adventures and summits if the weather is clear as well as some epic tree lines up to 700m long below the lodge. This camp runs from Saturday to Saturday, and staging will be from Burton, south of Nakusp.  Contact camp manager Gail Crowe-Swords at croweswords@gmail.com for more details.

Notes:

All RMS ski camps are self catered and self guided. AST2 or equivalent experience is required. We will continue our RMS practices which include an avi scenario upon arrival at the lodge. As well each participant is expected to perform personal snow assessments each day and actively participate in daily group risk assessment discussions. Copies of our daily assessment worksheets are available on the camps page of the section website and from the individual camp managers. They are a modified version of the ACMG morning guides worksheet, adapted for the RMS by the CAA.

Covid has added requirements for participants, including proof that you are fully COVID vaccinated and completion of a “Declaration of Health”. Other COVID requirements, such as negative rapid tests, may be required. As Federal and Provincial health regulations continue to change, we will need to be flexible to accommodate them.

If a trip gets cancelled or delayed after participants have paid, the financial impact varies depending on the lodge, but basically you should expect that any funds you have paid are likely non-refundable. If you have to cancel a trip after paying, the camp managers will make every possible attempt to find a qualified replacement who will refund your payment. Please consider seeking cancellation insurance.

Payment Options:
  • Coordinator $1280.00 CAD
  • Member $1980.00 CAD

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Rocky Mountain Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
