We'll be climbing Mother's Day Buttress on
Cascade, with an early start in order to not get backed up behind too many other parties. There is a 30 min 3rd class scrambling
approach, 8 pitches of 5.6 trad climbing
(bolted anchors), and a descent that is mostly
a trail but includes some short sections of 3rd
class down-climbing and a rappel. Participants
must be competent at belaying a leader, and
comfortable moving over moderate scrambling
terrain. While not required to lead,
participants should be able to comfortably
climb up to 5.7 outdoors and be on the move for
4-7 hours. If you are interested to lead some
pitches, I'm happy to share the lead, but also
happy to lead the whole thing. Any experience level is welcome, provided you meet the basic requirements mentioned above. If I haven't climbed
with you recently, please send a description of
your experience level & abilities including
relevant climbs you have been on in the past
and whether you are interested in leading or
seconding.
Required Items to Bring:
Climbing gear (can discuss in detail with
selected participants), and a backpack you are
comfortable climbing with. We won't be
returning to the start of the climb, so
everything you bring is coming up & over with
us - choose wisely!
