Itinerary:

Depending on snow levels, I want to take advantage of the Highwood Pass prior to Highway 40 closing on December 1st. We will meet at the Arethusa Cirque pull out, and head out as a group.

Depending on who we have, we can split into Lappers and Slackers. Those who want to pound out as many laps as possible, and those who want to ease into the ski season.

This trip is ideal for BITS participants, but I am not a BITS Leader. Any other Trip Leaders who wish to join are welcome.

Must be proficient with tree skiing.

Required Items to Bring:
  • Full avalanche kit - beacon, probe, shovel and AST.
  • Helmet
  • Warm layers, hot drink, etc. especially if you're a slacker. It can be brutally cold with high winds in this area.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Arethusa Cirque is about 1 km south of the Highwood Pass day use area. Look for the ski tracks headed into the trees on the east side.

Carpool Departure Time:   07:30 AM
Carpool Location:   Carpool will depend on participants location. I'll What's App group to organize.

Trip will be cancelled if poor avalanche conditions, storms, or lack of snow.

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Rocky Mountain Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
