Depending on snow conditions, I like to ski to Elk Pass, down Hydroline, and ski up the backside to the fire lookout. Ski down the (hopefully roller packed) front side, and back to car. Please note that this will most likely NOT be track set. Be prepared to break trail. Route up backside of Fire Lookout is steep, and can be a wallow-fest if deeper snow. Light touring skis are preferred, but strong skiers can use regular cross-country.
|
| Required Items to Bring: |
- Light touring skis (skilled skiers can bring regular cross-country)
- Proper layers for conditions
- An amazingly good attitude :-)
- Food
- Wax selection
|
|
| Recommended Items to Bring: |
- Skins (full or partial) depending on conditions.
- Warm drink is optional. I like to ski and go. Minimal lingering.

| How to Get There: |
| Event Directions: |
|
This is a VERY small lot and no parking is allowed on the highway. By going midweek, starting early, and carpooling, we can all get a spot.

Trip will be cancelled for freakishly cold weather, or lack of snow.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Rocky Mountain Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
