Itinerary:

Do you want to improve your navigation skills?  Tired of wandering around the mountains looking for the start of your climb?  Join us for an evening session of sharing navigation skills, tips, and tricks! All skill levels are welcome.

We'll cater the evening to match what participants want to learn about, with potential topics including:  Map reading, compass use, route planning, whiteout navigation, dead reckoning, GPS, strategies for finding climbs/walkoffs, and making the most of electronic apps & other tools.

I have been navigating around the Rockies for 15+ years.  I've gotten lost (and found again) a lot over the years, so you don't have to!

Required Items to Bring:

No mandatory items to bring, but you may find a notepad & pen useful.  I will have a few loaner maps/compasses, so no need to get anything special.

Recommended Items to Bring:

You may want to bring along any navigation tools you already have and want to practice with.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Station Main, 201 Indian Flats Rd Box 8040, Canmore, AB T1W 2T8

Notes:

If you need a ride from Canmore up to the clubhouse, let me know and I can help arrange a carpool.

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Rocky Mountain Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
