In response to difficulty some sections have getting AST certified instructors in their regions, ACC National hired avalanche expert and ski guide Doug Latimer to put together a course that trip leaders can teach in a field day. In November, interested leaders were provided an online webinar on how to deliver the field portion of the course.
January 15 and 18, 2024: Doug Latimer will present the online portion of the course to all interested section members.
This will be a good refresher, for example for BITS participants, but note that it is not a replacement for an AST nor is it a recognized AvCan course. It’s a chance to share avalanche skills and best practices.
Members should attend both the January 15 and 18 sessions.
A zoom link to the 6:30pm webinars will be sent to all registrants.

Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Rocky Mountain Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
