Itinerary:

This trip is for current or aspiring ice leaders who want to practice leading skills with a supportive and patient team.  We will meet at the Junkyards parking lot early so we can have a better choice of lines.  We will be aiming for WI2 or WI3- terrain.

We'll practice skills needed for ice leading, such as:

- Mock leading (top roping while placing screws and clipping)

- Spice Climbing (sport/ice climbing where you lead with some screws already placed)

- Leading ice where it's ok if you don't finish (I can get the rope back up for us)

- Leading where it's ok to go slow or place many screws

Participants MUST:

- Have ice climbed at least 10 times previously, and be confident with movement on ice

- Be able to offer a competent lead belay

- Have experience leading on rock (or at least in the gym)

- Be working towards leading ice (you don't have to lead on this day, but you do have to be working towards one day leading)

Required Items to Bring:

Standard ice climbing personal gear (can be discussed further with participants)

Recommended Items to Bring:

We'll discuss who brings rope/rack with selected participants.  I have all necessary gear if participants don't have rope/screws.

Notes:

If I haven't climbed with you before, send me an email with a brief intro and describe your ice and leading experience to susangoesexploring@gmail.com.
