Notes: |
This trip will be catered by the lodge with all meals provided. We will only be expected to help with dishwashing. If you have special dietary requirements, please inform the camp manager.
Snowfall Lodge is located at 1600m in a northwest-facing drainage overlooking the Incomappleaux River. It is west of Battle Abbey and south of Selkirk Backcountry Lodge. The terrain is fairly advanced with lots of tree skiing and some more mellow terrain in the alpine, mostly on or near glaciers. Skiing is possible down to 1200m and treeline is about 2200m. See https://www.icefall.ca/about/snowfall-terrain-atlas for photos of the terrain and https://www.icefall.ca/accommodation/snowfall-lodge for details about the lodge. The lodge provides all bedding, down duvets and pillows. A limited number of rubber boots are available for going to the sauna and outhouses. Crocs (sandals) are available to use inside and in the sauna. The lodge is reasonably warm but most people will want pants or leggings and a sweater or hoody.

All RMS ski camps are self guided. AST2 or equivalent experience is required. We will continue our
RMS practices which include an avalanche scenario upon arrival at the lodge. As well
each participant is expected to perform personal snow assessments each day and actively
participate in daily group risk assessment discussions. Copies of our daily
assessment worksheets are available on the camps page of the section website
and from the individual camp managers. They are a modified version of the ACMG
morning guides worksheet, adapted for the RMS by the CAA.
If a trip gets cancelled or delayed
after participants have paid, the financial impact varies depending on the
lodge, but basically you should expect that any funds you have paid are likely
non-refundable. If you have to cancel a trip after paying, the camp managers
will make every possible attempt to find a qualified replacement who will
refund your payment. Please consider seeking cancellation insurance.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Rocky Mountain Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
