TOPO: https://topos.tabvar.org/sites/default/files/The%20Wanderer.pdf
Start time to be defined with the team depending on temperature etc
Selection Process:
If we haven't climbed together before please send an email (you'll find it at the bottom of the page) and describe:
- Your rock climbing experience (gym, outdoors and multi pitches)- Any relevant training (first aid, rock rescue, rock training etc)
Note that this is not a first-come first-serve trip. If you don't submit this information you will not be part of the trip.
Frequently asked questions:
How long is it ?
It depends on the team and the efficiency in climbing, transition, rappel etc
I'm not confident. Can I really do it ?
While 5.9 is a moderate grade you MUST have multipitch experience and be comfortable belaying safely, rappelling and climbing at this grade. You are not expected to lead if you don't want to. You can just follow or you can just choose the pitches you are comfortable to lead. No pressure.
IMPORTANT: If we are just 2 people you will be asked to belay with a grigri if possible (or any assisted braking device) for added safety. If we are 3 people we'll have to use a reverso/atc
What gear should I bring ?
You will need:
- Harness.
- Helmet. (MANDATORY. No helmet, no climb)
- Reverso belay device. (MANDATORY. Even if you are not planning to belay you will need it to rappel).
- Personal Anchor System (optional). If you don't have one please bring a 120cm sling.
- Carabiners. (At least 3 or 4)
- Prussik. (Even if you feel invincible and confident bring one... and use it).
- Approach shoes and rock climbing shoes
- Camera
- Sunscreen, Glasses
- Inreach (if you have one)
- Layers (for wind, rain...)
- Snack/Lunch and enough water for the day (For a multi pitch it's always a good idea to have a camelbak system to minimize the risk of dropping something)
The trip leader will bring the ropes, draws, radios...
What could prevent the event to happen ?
The event might be cancelled or postponed if:
- The forecast shows possible rain or thunderstorm/lightning
- The group doesn't have at least one experienced multipitch climber
Carpooling:
To be arranged with the group if needed.
