Start the week off right with some climbing at Wasooch Slabs. Beginners welcome but you must have passed a belay test (top rope ok, leader belay preferable). This is a great area to practice easy lead climbing. Climbs range from 5.4-5.11. Trad climbing is also possible here. IN CASE OF RAIN WE WILL STAY AND CLIMB AT ELEVATION PLACE INSTEAD.
Required Items to Bring:
Helmet, harness, shoes, personal anchor, snacks, water, layers and bug spray (not near the gear, please!) If you have a rope, anchor, or draws bring them as well.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Lawn chair and hibachi.
How to Get There:
From Canmore or Banff, drive east (toward Calgary) on the #1 highway until the junction with highway 40 (Kananaskis Trail). Turn right and drive the Kananaskis road to the Wasooch parking lot (signed). The climbing is a 5-10 min hike up the riverbed. Total drive from Canmore is under 30 min.
Carpool Departure Time:
Elevation Place - back left row
Meet at EP (back, left row) at 4:45, sign waivers, for 5:00pm sharp departure.
Otherwise, meet us at the crag at 5:30. If you want to carpool, please take your turn driving and/or pitch in for gas.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Rocky Mountain Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
