Itinerary:
This course is useful for any climber whether you lead or second. The course will focus on skills required to help solve a lead climber rescue.

Review what gear you may need and the different uses for your gear and strengths.
Review anchors.
Learn how to escape a lead fall belay so that you can go get help or possibly ascend the rope.
Learn a variety of Rappel skills that could be useful if you drop a device, have to rappel with an injured climber, or your rope has been damaged or cut.
Learn how to ascend a rope with a variety of different methods depending on the situation.
The combination of these skills should allow a climber to help with a lead climber fall as well as manage many rappel issues, stuck ropes and other common mishaps.
Required Items to Bring:

Harness, helmet, belay gloves, belay device with locking carabiner, rock shoes.

Prerequisite: this is not a beginner course so some climbing experience is necessary.  As a minimum, Participants should have at least climbed in a gym and must be able to offer a safe top-rope belay. 

The price is $210 for members or $125 for active trip leaders.

There are 3 places available with the trip leader discount. Trip leaders must have led 3 trips or have run a camp in the 12 months prior to booking the course. Please let the organizer know that you are a trip leader when booking the course so that you can be sent the correct invoice.



If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Rocky Mountain Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
