Rocky Mountain Section Photo Competition 
It's time to scroll through your photo roll and enter your best shots into our annual Photo Competition. 
Please email your photos by November 30 to: RMSphotocontest@gmail.com.

Please label your photos with: 
1) The category 
2) An interesting name or title for your photo entry
3) Your name 
The top photos from each category will be awarded great prizes! Winners will be presented on Dec 9, 7pm at Origin at Spring Creek, Canmore (enter through the Mineshaft Pub).

***If you are submitting to the Section Trips category, please include in the description the RMS trip you attended and the date.

There are seven categories in which you can enter your photos:

Climbing – ie. alpine, ice and rock

Culture and Humour

Flora, Fauna and Environment – ie. flowers, plants, trees, wildlife and rocks

Hiking and Scrambling – non-technical that is free of gear

Scenery – ie. landscapes, golden hour light

Skiing – skiing away from the lifts

Section Trips – photos that show the friendliness of an RMS trip or camp with at least 1 club member in the photo
New this year – People’s choice awards – where the winner is selected from members' popular vote!

All category winners will receive a prize and the grand prize will be chosen from the category winners.

Contest Rules & Guidelines

Contest is open to all section members who are in good standing

Professional photographers are NOT eligible to enter the contest if ALL the following conditions apply:

1) Sold a photo for more than $100.00

2) Sold more than 3 photos

3) Sold a photo within the last 5 years

All entries must have been taken in an alpine environment during hiking, climbing, skiing, scrambling or backpacking trips

All entries must be digital photographs (including digitally scanned prints and negatives)

No paper or cardboard slides allowed this year.

A maximum of 10 entries total per photographer

All entries must have a minimum digital resolution of 1024x768 pixels

Minor post-processing is allowed, including sharpening, removing dusts spots, cropping and minor adjustments to exposure, saturation, white balance and contrast. Significant processing (including cloning and compositing) is not allowed

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Rocky Mountain Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.

Waiver Requirement
Participation in this activity is subject to the participant having signed the ACC Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risks Agreement (the “Waiver”). The Waiver is a legal document in which you waive or give up the right to sue or claim compensation following an accident. PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY!

Members participating in this activity do not require a separate Waiver. Your membership Waiver in place at the time of the activity will apply to your participation in this activity. If your membership renews prior to the activity taking place, you will be required to agree to a new Waiver upon renewal, this new Waiver will apply to your participation in this activity. By proceeding with the booking, you agree with the forgoing waiver terms. You can review your completed waiver by logging onto your profile at alpineclubofcanada.ca.

Non-members participating in this activity will be required to review and agree to the Waiver prior to participating in the activity. The current version of the Waiver can be viewed here alpineclubofcanada.ca/acc-waivers/. The Waiver will be presented for completion at the start of the Activity.
