The Spirit of Adventure - Howse Pass and Athabasca Pass
This exciting presentation will review David Thompson's exploratory adventures over both of these iconic passes. They were critical links for the fur trade in what is now western Canada. A review of current conditions and plans for the future are also included.
Howse Pass River Valley is very beautiful and wild with long open views. Hiking it is like viewing a moving postcard. A GPS route is available via an app (FarOut / Great Divide Trail / Section D).
The iconic Athabasca Pass trail is fully restored and cleared, except the Simon Creek Bridge. This is a 65 km trail, from the Wood River / Jeffrey Creek confluence to the Moab Lake parking lot in Jasper National Park.
Required Items to Bring:
The presentation is free of charge, but you are responsible for your own food and beverage.
